Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20, 1964. She is an American politician. She is the first woman to be elected vice president and also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in the history of America. As a part of the Democratic Party, she previously was the attorney general for California between 2011 and 2017 and also as a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. She was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010 and elected again in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As a senator , she supported healthcare reform, federal descheduling for cannabis, a pathway for immigrants who are not legal citizens and the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also supported progressive tax reform. Her pointed questioning of Trump officials during Senate hearings has garnered the attention of the nation, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
