Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor, speaker, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. Since her inception, she has been in each seasons of Shark Tank. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals since February, 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 kids born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran's entire life. Her family often depended on food delivery services for free from the local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father, a man who sometimes drank too much and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had several drinks. Corcoran struggled through her schooling before discovering that she had dyslexia. Corcoran went to a local Catholic elementary school and started the high school system at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. After flunking several courses during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she graduated as a D student.
